Train Like An Athlete
Our goal at Branford CrossFit is to give you the tools and techniques needed to become an athlete. Athletes are healthier, live longer, and are more prepared for anything that life may throw their way. Our goal is for you to enjoy the environment, the challenge, the community, and work hard every day in and out of the gym.
Do not feel intimidated. Many of you may look at these workouts and say, “There is no way I could do that!!!” Well, yes you can, we program our workouts for the elite athletes. If your not there yet, we scale the workouts according to the athletes skill set. By giving alternatives to certain exercises/times/loads… this keeps that same intensity of the programmed workout. We do this while maintaining the goal/integrity of getting to do a workout prescribed or RX’d.
Safety & GPP (General Physical Preparedness)
As an athlete, the most important thing is being on the field. You can’t do this if you're sidelined with an injury. We are bringing that attitude and approach to whomever we train. Whatever the task, you will be more prepared through our functional programming. From a division 1 athlete to an 82 year old grandpa, you need to be on the field (playing with your kids, being at your job, cutting the lawn, helping your brother move). We are really trying to build something here by improving your overall quality of life.
Do I have to be in-shape already to start CrossFit?
NO!! This is a great place for you to start your journey into fitness, or your comeback! In our On-Ramp classes, our Certified Coaches will bring you through step by step, working on all the concepts and foundations that our program was built on. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like, never feel intimidated, we are all in this together. We want to help you succeed! (See the programs tab to learn more about On-Ramp)
By scaling your workouts it is not a bad thing and may increase your work capacity more than trying to do a workout prescribed when you’re not ready. Lowering the weight or decreasing the time may actually increase your power output in the end while keeping you free from injury.
Almost all new to CrossFit will be scaling their workouts and one of many seasoned athletes goals are to do certain workouts as prescribed.
