As the youngest of three boys, I learned early what it meant to fight my way to the top. I had to be determined, tough, relentless to get what I wanted. My brothers never took it easy on me and that made all the difference in how I approached not only sports, but, also life in general. My parents led by example and showed us that a great work ethic, pride in your work, and perseverance is really the only option.
At a young age I was introduced to sports, and I instantly fell in love with the athleticism, competition, and team camaraderie. I spent most of my extra time improving my strength, agility, power, and explosiveness. I always had a love for non-traditional modes of training, like pushing my Ford Falcon up a hill, splitting and hauling wood, and running one of the farm hills in NorthBranford.
I played linebacker for the Northeastern University Huskies. There, I learned more Olympic lifting techniques and refined my movements. After my collegiate career came to an end, I had a difficult time coming to grips with the end of competition and no longer being apart of a team. It was then that I was introducted to Crossfit, and I knew I had found my missing piece.
In 2013 I placed 7th at Regionals, and it left me hungrier than ever. I rang that bell each and every day since to make sure I had a ticket to Carson in 2014. The 14.1 Open WOD fell on the weekend I became a father. My son, David, and my wife, Marta, gave me that extra fire, and I placed 2nd overall for the WOD. I made it to Regionals where I earned my spot in third place. I was one of nine people world wide to finish the 50s workout in Regionals. Carson bound, I had a lot to prove. I placed 11th overall and still the fire burns even hotter to get back there!! I have competed indiviually, but am really excited this summer/fall to be now be competing with a team. I am currently an athlete on the Phoenix rise in the NPGL and the Reebok North team in the Crossfit Team Series.
It has always been a dream of mine to open my own gym. I couldn't be more proud of our members, growth, staff, and product we have here at Branford Crossfit. The community that has been established is strong and hungry. In this short time of opening our doors, we have together made leaps and bounds. It is an honor to come in and coach such great people and be a part of your life. I can't wait for what's to come!!
